Replacement

For some reason the original light that it came with had water seeped into it. It was never submerged - just normal humidity/condensation from the tank air bubbling. There is no alternative if you purchased the Biorb tank setup. Wish there was a better warranty.

As good as the AC version

The only reason to purchase this item is because you are using the DC Adaptor. This DC version of the MCR light is the same as the AC version otherwise. The DC versions of Biorb accessories is overall better for the fact that the DC adaptor is very much lighter than the AC transformer. The DC air pump is however larger in size than the AC version. Since this MCR uses a standard 2.5mm (I think) power plug, you can potentially use a non-Biorb/Oase AC to DC power adaptor for the light, and a separate USB-powered airpump for your Biorb aquariums.
